World Champion Drummer Steven McWhirter is now available for tuition every Friday at the National Piping Centre. Steven is one of the worlds leading snare drummers having won the World Pipe Band Championships with Simon Fraser University Pipe Band this year and also winning the World Solo Drumming title in 2006. The seventeenth annual amateur piobaireachd competition for the Archie Kenneth Quaich will take place on Saturday, 7th March 2009, in the rooms of The Royal Scottish Pipers’ Society, Rose Street Lane South, Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Knockout
The Edinburgh Knockout will kick off on Sunday 16th November in the Scots Guards Club Haymarket. The first two pipers going head to head for the audience votes are Margaret Dunn and Kevin MacNulty. The dates for the other competitors are not yet confirmed but the draw is as follows;

The Glenfiddich 2008 Competitors Announced
The Ten international competitors who will battle it out for the esteemed title of Glenfiddich Piping Champion have been revealed alongside the eight competitors chosen to compete for the title of Glenfiddich Fiddle Champion (full list below). The crème de la crème of Pipers and Fiddlers will be descending upon Scotland from across the globe for the Championships, which take place on the 25th and 26th of October respectively, in Blair Atholl at the prestigious Ballroom in Blair Castle.
