It’s Drum Time!

National Youth Pipe Band bring Drumming Stars to Glasgow.

Two of the Worlds top solo drummers will be in town on Saturday 28th Feb and Sunday 1st March for a two-day exclusive workshop with the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland’s Drum Corp. Jeff Queen, the American DCI snare drumming 5 times world champion and Pete Lockett, an Indian/African percussionist who featured on the soundtrack for Quantum of Solace, the latest James Bond Film will be in Glasgow to teach and play with the top young pipe band drummers in the country.

MacCrimmon Trophy Qualifiers

Cameron Drummond, Alasdair Henderson & Chris Gibb qualified for the MacCrimmon Trophy saturday night at the College of Piping. Six competitors entered and performed a five-to-six minutes medley of Scottish music. Also playing but not in the prizes were Keith Bowes, John Mulhearn & Gareth Gardner. The MacCrimmon Trophy will take place on the 2nd of August in Lorient, Brittany.

NYPB perform well at the Junior Competition

David SheddenOn the Saturday 14th February the National Piping Centre once again hosted its annual Junior Competition. It was a fantastic day of piping which saw some of Scotland’s most talented young pipers compete for the top prize in each age category. It was very pleasing to see a large number of National Youth Pipe Band members supporting the event from both the senior and development bands and congratulations to you all for performing very well.

ScottishPower and Johnstone Pipe Bands Concert

Johnstone Pipe Band are pleased to announce that on Sat March 7th they will host a concert in Johnstone Town Hall. Doors open at 7pm, with the concert commencing at 7.30pm. The highlight of the evening will be the ScottishPower Pipe Band taking to the stage, led by P/M Chris Armstrong and current World Solo Drumming Champion Barry Wilson. Both sections of Johnstone, Novice Juvenile and Grade 2, will also participate in the concert.
