BBC Alba have produced two one-hour shows about Piping Live! 2009 which will be shown over the festive period. So if you want to re-live the summer you can see the first show on Saturday 19th December at 10pm and the second on Saturday 26th December at 10pm. They will be repeated on Friday 25th December at 11pm and Saturday 2nd January at midnight. BBC Alba is available on Sky channel 168 and Freesat. So make sure you set your Sky Plus box now!
The Junior Competition NEEDS YOUR HELP!! The National Piping Centre is looking for volunteers to help steward on Saturday 13th February at the NPC Junior Competition. Haddington Pipe Band has won the Scottish Pipe Band of the Year title for 2009. At a magnificent ceremony in Dumfries on Saturday 28 November, which was broadcast on BBC Alba, the band took the award at the Scottish Trad Music Awards. Continue reading

Casting his musical net even wider than usual, the thrilling Scottish piper Finlay MacDonald sets out to celebrate the diverse creative camaraderie he’s relished throughout his career, both with individual musicians and other countries’ traditions. An international array of fellow musicians including Chris Stout (fiddle), Jacky Molard (fiddle), Patrick Molard (Highland pipes/binou), Kevin MacKenzie (guitar), John Speirs (double bass), Maeve MacKinnon (vocals) and Mark McKerrell (percussion) join Finlay for a richly varied programme of reworked favourites and new material.
