Celtic Connections hits Glasgow again from the 13th January. The Annual Piping Concert will take place on Saturday 15th January at 12.30pm and features the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland and Fife Constabulary. This will be an amazing concert showcasing pipe band performance. This takes place at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and tickets are £12.50.
Then on Sunday 16th the Gordon Duncan Memorial Competition will take place. This competition, set up in his honour, features piping talent from the Scottish, Irish and Breton traditions. Representing Scotland are pipers Chris Armstrong, Allan MacDonald and Cameron Drummond with judges Ian Duncan and Jimmy Banks. The Breton contingent comprises pipers Alexis Meunier, Sylvain Hamon and Xavier Boderiou and judges Hervé le Floch and Patrick Molard. Irish pipers include Andrea Boyd, Robert Watt and Ryan Canning, with judges Lenny Browne and Willy Garret.
The competition takes place at the National Piping Centre from 1pm and tickets are £8. MC for the afternoon is John Wilson and the prizes will be presented by Jock Duncan, Gordon’s father.
