Dates: 17th – 22nd June 2012
Venue: Shenandoah University, Winchester, VA

Once again our piping and drumming school led by our world class instruction team will be held in the fantastic facilities of Shenandoah University.

We will have a daily program which will cover all aspects of performance including practice routines, technique, musical expression, tuning and ensemble playing. Students will be taught in a small group of similar ability for 3-4 hours per day with workshops, recitals and practice time built in. We will also have available at the school the opportunity to sit the PDQB exams which have now been accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority.

We welcome all levels of player but if you are a beginner we recommend that bring/ buy in advance a copy of The National Piping Centre’s Tutor Book, this can be done on-line from the National Piping Centre shop. We also encourage all students to bring recording equipment to classes although CD’s of all the tunes in the music book will be available to purchase. Drummers will work on scores given to them by them by our two top class snare and tenor drumming tutors.

This year the piping teachers could not be better. They are confirmed as Roddy MacLeod MBE, Principal of The National Piping Centre and currently Glenfiddich Champion for the fourth time, Captain (Retired) Stuart D Samson MBE, Ex-Director of the Army School of Bagpipes and successful solo piper, Glenn Brown, Gold Medal winner 2009 and Grade 1 playing pipe band member of Scottish Power, and Callum Beaumont, Gold Medal winner 2011 and Grade 1 playing pipe band member of Inveraray & District.

The drumming teachers this year are once again Graham Brown (snare) one of the world’s leading pipe band snare drummers and the Lead Drummer for Grade 1 Peel Regional Police Pipe Band and Stephen Kilbride (tenor) who is both influential and successful in the Pipe Band Drumming world.

We are also pleased to be able to tell you that we now have a sole sponsor for the school. RG Hardie are providing some fantastic prizes for this year’s school including a set of Peter Henderson Bagpipes, a pipe case and practice chanter, as well as some excellent drumming kit prizes which include sticks, pads and books. This is a fantastic addition to this school and we are very happy to have them on board.
