Background

George McIlwham has had a distinguished career as principal Piccolo and Flute with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. He is also a piper, and was taught by Pipe Major Robert Reid. He was one of the first pipers to play with a symphony orchestra, and has featured as a solo player in a number of pieces, including Donald of the Burthens by Ian Whyte, and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies' "Orkney Wedding with Sunrise".
