Pipe Sergeant Scott Wood

Scott is 18 years old and lives in Erskine Renfrewshire. Piping is a strong part of his life and has been playing since the age of 12. He played in the Johnstone N/J band for one year, followed by their grade 2 band for a further 2 years and then moved to Strathclyde Police Pipe Band in the 2009/2010 season, in which he is still a member of today.

Scott is taught from Gordon McCready of Renfrew as well as Stuart Samson and Allan MacDonald.
He is currently doing BA Scottish Music Degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and is in his first year of studies. He competes regularly in the solos and has won many prizes in the Juniors including: Overall Winner – National Piping Centre Competition (2011), Overall Winner – Highlands and Islands Competition (2011), Winner of the Glasgow MOD (3 years in a row) and many more prizes around the highland game circuit.

After joining the NYPB in 2008, he has played at many concerts throughout Scotland and Europe, and has gained priceless experience through his time in the band.
