Perthshire

The National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland will be bringing its young members to Perthshire to conduct for the first time a Piping and Drumming Summer Camp. The programme will run for 3 days and will see NYPBoS members help teach and collaborate with other young pipers and drummers aged 25 years and under. Each day will also include a workshop run by one of the instructors at The National Piping Centre. On the final day there will be a small recital and performance for students by members of the NYPBoS and other top local musicians.

Accommodation

2 nights’ accommodation and meals will be provided to everyone attending the camp. Students will be utilising the residential accommodation on the campus at Perth College. Please see the link below for more information regarding the accommodation. NYPBoS Adult Supervisors will also be on hand in the evenings to supervise.

Tuesday 17th July

  • 10am – 11am: Briefing, Group Selection and Ice Breaker Game.
  • 11am – 1pm: Group Tuition.
  • 1pm – 2pm: Lunch Break.
  • 2pm – 3pm: Piping & Drumming Workshops.
  • 3pm – 5pm: Group Tuition.

Wednesday 18th July

  • 10am – 1pm: Group Tuition.
  • 1pm – 2pm: Lunch Break.
  • 2pm – 3pm: Piping & Drumming Workshops.
  • 3pm – 5pm: Group Tuition.

Thursday 19th July

  • 10am – 10:30am: Final day briefing.
  • 10:30am – 1pm: Group Tuition.
  • 1pm – 2pm: Lunch Break.
  • 2pm – 3:30pm: Piping Drumming Workshops.
  • 3:30pm – 4:30pm: Recital & Small concert.
  • 4:30pm – 4:45pm: Conclusion of event.

What to bring

Pipers are recommended to bring along their practice chanter and bagpipes. If you do not have a full set of pipes yet that is fine as well as long as you have a practice chanter. Drummers are recommended to bring along their own snare, tenor or bass sticks and practice pads. If you are able to bring a drum with you as well that would be great as we will only have a limited number of drums with us at the camp.

We will provide music packs for the camp but please feel free as well to bring along your own music to use as a reference.
All bed linen in the rooms are provided. You will only need to bring your personal toiletries and towel.
All meals will be provided by a catering company.
