Training Courses
Two day residential training courses are held at the National Piping Centre, Glasgow and are designed to imporve performance and musical understanding, introduce new skills and develop confidence. The courses are not auditions but focus on fun and development.
There is a course fee of £50 which includes food, accommodation and tuition. (Please contact us for assistance with funding if required as fees should not be a barrier to participation).
To take part in our courses you can download an application form (below) which you must return to us at least three weeks before you are to attend.

Auditions
If you are a piper or drummer between the age of 10 and 25 and are interested in joining the National Youth Pipe Band, you will need to arrange an audition, which can be taken year-round.
Auditions for the Senior Band will usually only be open to pipers and drummers between the ages of 14 to 25. Auditions for the Development Band are open to pipers and drummers between the ages of 10 to 16. In some cases, pipers and drummers attending NYPB courses and events may be invited to join the Development Band if they are thought to be of the required standard. Auditions will consist of both an interview, and a 15 minute performance. Tunes are own choice, but should be introduced by the candidate. The audition will conclude with a feedback session.
If you are interested in arranging an audition time, please contact Paul Warren, Director of the National Youth Pipe Band, and include a written outline of your musical and performance experience and achievements, including details of any second instruments you play. You can also fill in the application form (below) and tick the box to request an audition.
