The National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland will be touring Caithness and Orkney for the very first time on Friday 23rd ans Saturday 24th July. On Friday 23rd they will conduct workshops in Wick and Thurso for any young Piper of Drummer under the age of 25, as well as come and try sessions for anyone who thinks piping might be for them. That night they will perform their “Dragon’s Lair” Concert at the Wick Assembly Rooms. The concert starts at 7pm and tickets are £8/£6 and are available on the night.On Saturday 24th they will travel to Orkney to present workshops in Kirkwall TA Hall and then they will travel to Stromness to take part in the Shopping Week Gala Parade. Members of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland will perform for the first time alongside members of YDance and Scottish Youth Theatre for a brand new collaboration project supported by Homecoming Scotland. They will be re-telling Burns’ epic Tam O’Shanter with each company bringing its own style to the performance. Their first performances are this weekend (Fri 16th and Sat 17th) in Stirling Castle, with further performances in Eden Court, Inverness on the 26th and then Haddo House in Aberdeenshire on 30th and 31st of October - a Hallowe’en Scarefest!
