Must-Have Wedding Photos
Ask any married couple and they'll tell you - your wedding day will pass in a flash! A good wedding photographer will capture all of the most important moments but if thereâs any particular shots that youâd like, then itâs worth having a chat ahead of the ceremony to let your photographer know! With that in mind, our latest blog runs down some must-have wedding photos to get you thinking, so that you can avoid any regrets later and make your memories lastâŠ
1. Getting Ready
There are a host of lovely moments to capture whilst getting ready â from the bride having her make-up applied to close up details of bouquets and buttonholes. If you and your fiancĂ©e are getting ready at separate venues, itâs also worth asking whether your photographer will have an assistant or second shooter with them. Following the wedding, these photographs will allow you to share and reflect on your final moments before starting your new life together.
2. The Dress
Your dress will feature in photos throughout the day but remember to capture it before you put it on too! Whether itâs hanging on a padded hanger, spread on the bed, or draped over a chair, this can capture the uniqueness of the gown and all of the emotions it embodies.
3. The Bridal Party
Whether youâd prefer candid shots of you having fun whilst getting ready or group shots of the bridal party all dressed up, youâll want to remember the moments you spent with those closest to you! Maybe youâd like the photographer to take individual portraits, so they can capture the individual personalities of your friends?
4. Walking Down the Aisle
&
5. The Kiss
Of all of the dayâs key moments, these are two of the most fleeting and â most importantly for your photographer - canât be re-done! Theyâll be keen to capture these moments perfectly for you, so a quick chat about the venue and any particular challenges it might pose ahead of the ceremony will help set everyoneâs mind at easeâŠ
6. Couple Shots
Photos of you signing the registrar, walking back up the aisle as man and wife, and emerging to confetti â there are many key moments following the vows you might like your photographer to catch. The time immediately following the ceremony is also great for taking portraits â these moments will be full of love and raw emotion. Would you like your photographer to do a few more artsy or dramatic shots or photograph you at a particular location nearby? Tell them!
7. Family Portraits
Itâs a good idea to plan the combinations and groups of people youâd like to photograph together, and write a list to make sure that no-one gets missed out! As these photos will generally take the most coordination, it might also be a good idea to assign a close friend who knows your guests to work with the photographer and get everyone rounded up...
8. The First Dance
&
9. The Party
And finally, to the reception! From the first toast to the last dance, this is the time your guests will let loose and enjoy themselves, giving your photographer the opportunity to capture spontaneous moments for you to look back on together. If you have particular guests joining you from far afield and want your photographer to capture them, make sure to point them out!
