Signs a wedding venue is 'The One'
With our next Wedding Walkaround set to take place on Sunday, we thought we’d talk through some of the key signs that a wedding venue you’re visiting might just be ‘The One’! Is our wedding venue in Glasgow the one for you?
Location, location, location!
Where would you like to get married? If you and your partner are from different parts of the country, or indeed the world, then it may be challenging to bring all of your loved ones together for your wedding. In this instance, a city centre wedding may work better for your guests, as there’ll be lots of options for accommodation for those travelling. On the other hand, you might want to be more adventurous and have a destination wedding with those closest to you. Talk it through with your families and find a location that works well for everyone, then look at venues within this locale.
It suits your budget & the size of your guestlist
You should look to set your budget before viewing any venues – there’s nothing worse than finding your dream venue, only to discover that you simply can’t afford to marry there. Knowing in advance that you can afford the venues you’re considering will make the whole process easier to navigate. Similarly, you should have an idea of the number of guests you hope to have attending your wedding. This will allow you to rule out venues that are too small quickly and painlessly.
You can picture your wedding taking place there
Have a look at photos from previous weddings at the venues you’re considering – could you see you and your partner in place of the bride or groom? Can you imagine having your first dance in the reception space? If the answer is yes, then it could well be the right venue for you!
It has good reviews and you like the people who work there
It’s easy to be seduced by beautiful photographs on a venue’s website, but make sure you read reviews online to get a full understanding of what it’s like to marry there. It’s also worth considering whether you like the people who’ll be working behind the scenes – no matter how beautiful venue is, you won’t enjoy your day if the team don’t make you feel comfortable in the space. You’ll be spending a lot of time with the venue’s coordinators in the run up to the event too, so it’s important that you get along well with them.
It was love at first sight...
If you have a strong gut instinct about a venue, you should trust it! While it’s important to do your research and ask a number of essential questions (read our Part 1 and Part 2 of our ‘Essential Questions…’ blogs for more on this topic) to back up your initial feelings, it’s usually a good sign if you instantly start imagining what your floral displays might look like in the space or how you might decorate the entrance. Sometimes you just know when something's right!
