Choosing A Wedding Package
Wedding packages are an ideal platform from which to start planning your dream wedding, but how do you choose the package that’s right for you? Here are some of the top things you should consider...
There are a few key steps to take when you first start planning your wedding, which we've covered in our 'Wedding Planning: Where to Start?' blog. These include working out your budget, starting your guest list and deciding on the vision or theme for your big day. Once you have these details in mind, it will make it much easier for you to compare packages and find one that suits your needs!
There has been a recent trend towards couples seeking a picture perfect wedding day, with DIY details for Instagram-friendly photos increasingly topping their list of requirements. In this instance, choosing a package that includes stationery may not give as much flexibility as wanted. However, for others who aren't as fussed on decor, having candles, stationery and linens included in your package means there's one less thing for you to worry about.
You may instead prioritise food, and view it as a central part of your celebrations. If so, you may be inclined to pick a more deluxe package like our Ivory wedding package that enables you to have your pick of meal options. Alternatively, you may just want a hearty, delicious meal that will ensure your guests are fuelled through hours of dancing instead. If so, our Sgian Dubh package might fit the bill, as it features a delicious main course of Breast of chicken served with rich thyme gravy, seasonal vegetables and dauphinoise potatoes and breakfast rolls for the evening buffet.
Similarly, the drinks on offer can vary between packages, so it's worth reading the fine print to get a grip on what's included. If you'd like your guests to toast you with whisky or sparkling wine, then you may have to go for a pricer package than one that simply provides wine. If you'd like a prosecco drinks reception for your evening guests, this may also require to pick a more deluxe package, like our Ivory package. Check if the package includes accommodation for the happy couple on the wedding night, as if it does, it's usually great value and one less thing for you to pay for.
One you have an idea of the package that might work for you, it's then a good idea to discuss whether you can personalise it further by adding extra options with your venue. It may also be worth asking if you can swap items to further suit your needs. Some venues may not allow this, but it never hurts to ask! Furthermore, you may be able to bring your own suppliers on board for the day, but check whether there might be a surcharge for this before confirming. If the service the external supplier is one you really want for your big day, it may be worth paying - after all, you only get to do this once!
Finally, make sure you read the terms and conditions of the all the packages and make special note of their minimum numbers required. Once you're sure you're happy with all of the details, you can sign on the dotted line and know that you're well on your way to hosting a wedding day to remember.
