Scottish Wedding Trends 2020
With 2020 truly here, we can see some fantastic trends creeping into Scottish weddings for this year! Continuing the momentum of recent years, the move towards greater individuality and personalisation will continue apace, as couples seek to break age-old customs to celebrate their own love story in a way that feels personal and modern. If you're currently planning your own bespoke Scottish wedding, our wedding venue in Glasgow has a rundown of the big wedding trends in Scotland we expect to make waves in 2020...
We first wrote about couples choosing to be more eco-conscious in our 2019 wedding trend blog, and followed it up with our guide to having an eco-conscious wedding last February. Sustainable weddings will continue to rise in 2020, as couples become more and more aware of the environmental impact of their celebrations. From taking small steps like ensuring the confetti you use is biodegradable to wearing outfits made from sustainable fabric, there are numerous ways to reduce the carbon footprint of your wedding. You can also use locally sourced produce in your wedding breakfast, as we strive to at our wedding venue in Glasgow - The National Piping Centre!
Gone are the days of massive weddings with huge guestlists - 2020 will see a trend towards more intimate weddings with fewer people in attendance. Perfect for introverts and those wanting to celebrate with a smaller group of loved, this kind of celebration will allow couples to spend more quality time with the individuals they've invited to share their day with them. It may also mean that your budget per guest is higher, allowing you to add bespoke or extravagant touches. The Pipers Tryst Restaurant and Blue Room is perfect for more intimate celebrations, catering for up to 40 people......
Menus to suit every taste
As more people become vegan, vegetarian, flexitarian or opt for gluten-free diets for health reasons, so the dietary needs of wedding guests have changed. In 2020, we expect couples tying the knot to be more thoughtful about inclusivity and careful about catering for the needs of their guests, offering menus that are sure to appeal to every taste! We cater for all dietary requirements here at The National Piping Centre, offering gluten-free and vegan menus all year round in The Pipers’ Tryst Restaurant. If some of your guests have dietary requirements, then our team will happily chat you through the options available to you. Find out more here.
With couples trying to decrease their carbon foot-print, the rise of city centre weddings is on for 2020. Instead of fleeing to the country, decadent hotels, urban landscapes and art galleries are all being used. Photos from these weddings can be just as spectacular and ‘grammable with graffiti, rooftop views and beautiful stone work all featuring.
Our wedding venue in Glasgow location provides many of these things, as well as giving a Highland house party feel – the best of both worlds!
Personalised Bridal Wear
Another big trend for 2020 will be the use of personalised bridal wear including ideas like embroidery with hidden messages - think Hailey Baldwin / Bieber's veil... There has also been a rise in decorated leather jackets and special shoes. Wear converse under your gown? O for it, and bling them up with your initials! They look great in your photos and on social media and willyou’re your guests on the big day. However, veils are the most special. These can be personalised to the bride, but then kept as a new family heirloom for generations to come.
