Things to consider when choosing your wedding breakfast
Traditionally, the wedding breakfast was the âbreaking of fastâ as the wedding party would fast before the wedding ceremony, and this meal has become part of the ritual to this day. It is the first meal you will eat as a married couple, so choosing it is a great way of marking your relationship and making it personal. However, there are a few things to think about in which can sway your choices when it comes to your wedding breakfast.
Cost
This is an obvious one, but your budget can have a big effect on what your wedding meal will be. Different and more bespoke meals can be more expensive than some choosing from a set menus. Check with your venue and caterer what they can offer within your budget range.
Â
Internal and External Caterers
Itâs very important to check with your venue whether they allow external caterers or not. You might love the idea of a hog roast, or food van for your catering, but there are a number of reasons why some venues donât allow these onsite. So check with your venue first, as you donât want to pay a caterer only to find your venue canât accommodate them. Great communication with your venue and suppliers is key in the planning process, so make sure you stay in touch with all parties through your organisation!Â
Â
Your dining numbersÂ
Make sure you know how many people are coming to the wedding breakfast or âday guestsâ as then the venue/caterer can work closely with you to decide on the type of menu that is perfect for your special day. Many venues can be limited to seating numbers too, so this is an essential to know from almost the outset of your planning journey. Also remember to let them know if thereâs any kids attending so the meal can be adapted if need be.
Â
Dietary requirements
You want everyone to have the best time at your wedding and that includes making sure they can enjoy their meal! Make sure you know if there are any guests who may be vegetarian, vegans, need a gluten-free meal or have any allergies that are important for the venue to know. They can help you ensure you have choices for these guests, or in one wedding that The National Piping Centre catered for, the entire menu was gluten free â meaning all the guests feel free to eat all the canapés, nibbles and their meal without worry!Â
