Safeguarding and Child Protection
The National Piping Centre is committed to the protection of children and regards the safeguarding and promoting of the interests and wellbeing of children to be of paramount concern. We are also committed to the protection of vulnerable adults and young people from exploitative relationships.
We are dedicated to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for everyone we interact with.
We consider it the duty of all those employed or involved with the National Piping Centre to pre-vent the physical, sexual or emotional abuse or neglect of all children, young people and vulnerable adults with whom they come into contact, including reporting any abuse discovered or suspected.
All staff must adhere to our guidelines and respond appropriately to any concerns, allegations or disclosures of abuse or harm.
The individuals with protection/safeguarding responsibilities within our senior management are Finlay MacDonald (Director of Piping) and Alberto Laidlaw (Director of Administration). Our Checks
All staff who work closely with young people and/or at risk adults are PVG checked. Disclosure Scotland provides the information to allow us to check the records of any staff working in this area against the national database. To work in this area staff need to have a clean PVG check. We re-check everyoneâs status every three years.
Our PVG and Disclosures Policy is available here.
Our Training
All of our staff who come into contact with children, young people and vulnerable adults receive mandatory safeguarding training at least every three years.
