Glenfiddich Piping Championship 2024
Glenfiddich Piping Championship 2024
The National Piping Centre and William Grant Foundation were delighted to present the 51st Annual Glenfiddich Piping Championship at 10am on Saturday 26th October 2024.Â
The Glenfiddich Piping Championship was established in 1974 to inspire the world's finest individual pipers and to seek the best overall exponents of ceòl mòr or piobaireachd (the great music) and ceòl beag or light music (the little music). Each year, 10 competitors qualify to play at this prestigious event through placing in one of a series of qualifying events. This year, the 10 invited participants are all first place prizewinners, which is a very rare occurrence (almost unique!) for the Glenfiddich Piping Championship qualifying events.
This yearâs competitors are:
Callum Beaumont - 2023 Glenfiddich Champion
Chris Armstrong â Argyllshire Gathering Former Winners MSR Winner
Alan Bevan â Piping Live! Masters Overall Winner
Cameron Drummond â Argyllshire Gathering Gold Medallist
Alasdair Henderson â Argyllshire Gathering Senior Piobaireachd Winner
Nick Hudson â Northern Meeting Clasp Winner (Senior Piobaireachd)
Finlay Johnston â 2023 SPSL Annual Competition Overall Winner
Stuart Liddell â Northern Meeting Silver Star Winner (Former Winners MSR)
Roddy MacLeod MBE â 2023 Bratach Gorm Winner
Craig Sutherland â Northern Meeting Gold Medallist
The judges for this year are:
Piobaireachd - Murray Henderson, Ian Duncan, John Wilson
March, Strathspey & Reel - Iain MacFadyen BEM, Dr Angus MacDonald, Richard Parkes MBE
And this year's Fear an Taigh is Bob Worrall.
Once the day of competition has ended, the annual Pipers' Ceilidh will take place from 8.30pm at the Atholl Palace Hotel in Pitlochry. Once you arrive, there will be a buffet dinner served and then a ceilidh until midnight. There are a limited number of tickets available to attend this black tie ceilidh available to purchase along with a ticket to the day of competition.Â
Tickets to attend Blair Castle in person on Saturday 26th October are on sale now through the link below.
We would strongly advise purchasing tickets as soon as possible through the link. Ticket sales have been very strong in advance, so there may not be any tickets for sale on the day of the event.
