Entertainment for your Wedding
Do you want your guests to have the time of their lives at your wedding? Of course you do! One way to guarantee that your guests enjoy themselves throughout the day and into the night is to include some top quality entertainment. Here are some of our favourite ideas to help make sure that yours is a wedding to rememberâŠ
Music is an essential part of every ceremony â many brides will think about the soundtrack for their walk down the aisle or what their first dance will be, but itâs also worth thinking about quieter moments, such as when you sign the wedding register and when your guests are being seated. Depending on your budget, you could create a playlist of your favourite songs or choose live music for these moments, but picking the right songs will help to create the atmosphere you want for your wedding.
Similarly, the musical entertainment you choose for your evening reception will have a significant impact on your guests' experience. Hiring a DJ is one of the most popular forms of wedding entertainment â if you love a boogie, picking a lively and engaging DJ is sure to get your guests dancing! If you'd prefer the dancing to be a little more traditional, we love hosting ceilidhs at The National Piping Centre. Ceilidh bands will generally have a caller, who can make sure that all of your guests can learn the steps quickly and get involved in the fun. Weâd recommend Kilter, who play our Christmas parties, or the Shimmy Grand Ceilidh Band, who played the After Worlds Shindig at Piping Live! 2017.
You could also get your guests to make music of their own as an icebreaker. One option unique to The National Piping Centre would be to ask your wedding piper to carry out a Come & Try session, where your guests can try their hand at the chanter and bagpipes. Weâd recommend offering this kind of entertainment at your drinks reception â particularly if youâre away getting your wedding photos taken at this point. An interactive activity like this also allows your guests to get to know one another better, which is particularly useful when youâre bringing your families and different groups of friends together. It will also give your guests something to talk about at the wedding breakfast!
Interactive games are also a good way to keep younger guests occupied. Include a disposable camera and a list of must-get photos in kidâs party bags and not only will you keep the little ones occupied, youâll gather more momentos of your day!
Photobooths as another way to capture lots of fun memories from your wedding. There are many companies offering this as a professional service, such as the excellent Bygone Photobooth. Alternatively, you could create your own DIY photo booth, by using an instant camera and props from Paperchase. Keep a scrapbook on hand for guests to write their own message and stick their photo in and you have a fun alternative to the traditional wedding book.
